Alan's De Rosa SLX

This is a project for one of our local customers. He brought the Dr Rosa frame to us along with a LeMond built with most of a Campagnolo C-Record group. The LeMond and the parts on it were in really great shape, but the De Rosa frame was new-old-stock and never touched by a component. You could still see some of the blue paint in the seat tube. We chased all the threads, faced the head tube and bottom bracket shell, honed the seat tube, treated the frame with Weigle's Framesaver, and then cleaned and waxed the frame before beginning assembly. It was a real treat to start a project with a brand new "vintage" frame. As pristine as this bike is now, this is still a "rider". The day Alan picked it up, he showed up in his riding kit and took off on the bike. He still wasn't back to the shop when we closed up for the day. He later sent an email saying how much he enjoyed the ride!
